IIT routine can be very hectic, and we had to burn midnight oil to launch our startup,” says Choudhary. “We had to manage our studies while building a terrific product in our spare time. When you are a student, living on a budget, with classes to attend, papers to write and exams to pass, launching and managing a company can be a tad difficult. Smartprix was just waiting to happen,” says Khandelwal, 24. “Even as students, we wanted to create something to apply our knowledge of computer science while solving everyday problems. To solve this problem, Choudhary and Khandelwal conceived Smartprix, an online product comparison shopping website. “Online stores have different product pricing, and there are various kinds of offers available, making the whole process all the more confusing,” says Choudhary, now 24. After spending a lot of time doing online research, the two realised that there was no reliable platform on the Web to help them decide the best product to buy and where to buy it from. Abhinav Choudhary and Hitesh Khandelwal were studying engineering at IIT Delhi, when a common friend approached them for advice on buying a cell phone.
